Cooked some coral last night
« on: March 27, 2014, 09:44:11 pm »
I was lucky enough to get some coral while I was in FL last month.
I cooked some last night just like I do my jasper.
The first two were pretty tough. This one was sweeter and prettier.
To cold to finish it up. If I don't rush it, I might get er done in one piece

Looking good. You don't want to waste that Pin head coral, too hard to find. Pin head takes a little more heat then the transluscent corals. Just reheat the tough ones.

Thanks you all,
I have some of the larger hunks I got from the auction Roger and Eddie were to busy to attend. LOL
Thanks for the tips Ed. I saw you and Roger do magic with the coral. I was jealous.
I let the gator watch. Course he only got one good eye

PS I was wondering the best way to get rid of the powdery rind.
Muratic acid, grind?

On the gator or the coral? If it's the coral it is best to beat it off. It takes forever with acid, I tried that a long time ago.

DuBois,
Your sig may give you away. Not intended to be a good ole boy thread at all.
Although we are. Good old boys. Eddie and some may be late middle aged.
I am not sure.

I had such a good time. I just purchased a loin cloth but it's to cold to wear it.

Don, use hydrogen Peroxide on the skull to turn it white. the only way I know to get rid of the white is to wire brush and stain it.

lol just kiddin Eddie.
I like the gator just the way he is.
I am going to dunk him in some duco and acetone to keep him in good shape.
I got a few nice points and I still have some coral left to cook.
the best,  Zuma
