War Club (head) 1st pic of the head on a handle
« on: May 15, 2014, 01:42:26 pm »
I'm going to try to make a club. I have got one head done and need to mount it on a handle. I have seen some talk about mounting these type of heads. However other than use raw hide, I am not sure how I'm going to mount it. Have any of you made one of these? How did you mount it? Any pic's ? Idea's? Thanks for looking. Ed

I cut an over sized knock in a piece of OS, slide the stone head in it and wrapped it with leather, I will change this out with rawhide as soon as get some or make some. The head is in there (forgive the pun) solid as a rock.  this would be a melon buster for sure.  Thanks for looking, Ed

Wasn't Seminolewind asking about that project?  I'd search the flintknapping link...
I recall the conversation was mostly about rawhide use...

Good luck and good lookin' doggie! :)

I have seen hammers and axe type heads made tapered and put in a hole in a limb so that the more you hammered it would get tighter. Bob

Thanks for the reply's, I have seen the Celt style and the rawhide. I think I'm going to try to do a little bit of both. I have a piece of OS about 3/4" round and about a foot long. I'm going to try to make an over sized knock and drop the head in from the top and then wrap with rawhide. Now to make rawhide...The list of stuff a guy must make for this sport is never ending.
DP I did peck a little on the edges of my grove but found wet grinding works much better. Ed.
