CAN 64" ELM MAKE A RECURVE?

I'll try to get a pic up.  I've got it steamed as R/D 64" long.  Board I sawed from a smallish log and spliced.  Limbs are a blend of heart wood and sap wood.  It feels really springy but i'm going to back it.  Haven't decided with wyat yet.  May try 100% nylon uphulstry thread as a sinew substitute. 

Other wise I'll use rawhide.

Anyway i'm looking at it and wondering if I could flip those tips up a bit further and get a recurve? 

Right now I'm at 64" long.  I could keep it to say 3-4 inches of tip brought up another 45 deg ish?

I'm just worried that will make a bow that is too short to ge the full 28".  I've got limbs 2" wide for all but the last 8" which tapers to 5/8" for now.  Fixed riser.

Think this could make a workable recurve or should I stick with the R/D I started for?

I don't know what kind of elm it is.  Nieghbors yard variety.  I live in Iowa so what ever grows around here.  I think I like its springyness.

There is no need to back it at all and 64" is plenty for 28".

How long is a piece of string!!!!
If there is any discolouration under the bark then I wouldn't bother....but there is more elm here than enough....
No need whatsoever to back elm...it's probably tougher than what you'll use to back it anyway. Spliced billets don't make any difference.
