Newbie from the show me state
« on: September 28, 2014, 11:04:32 am »
Thought I'd introduce myself. Ive been shooting archery for about 12 years now (compounds) and decided to try my hand at traditional archery and bow building. Google searching different aspects of the process has led me here. So be prepared for a ton of questions throughout my first few attempts to make a bow:) Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond to my questions.

Welcome, Slow!  St Louis area here.
... alone in distant woods or fields, in unpretending sproutlands or pastures tracked by rabbits, even in a bleak and, to most, cheerless day .... .  I suppose that this value, in my case, is equivalent to what others get by churchgoing & prayer.  Hank Thoreau, 1857

Nope. I was curious so I checked his profile it says he's in Hannibal. I'm hoping there are a few K.C. area folks around that might have a couple hickory staves they'd be willing to trade for. I've got some fishing gear I'd be willing to part with.

I've got a few St. Croix mojo bass rods and a Lamiglass x11 which is a back bouncing rod that also makes for an awesome big swimbait rod, plus a ton of hardbaits some of which I custom painted myself.

There is a fella named Wayne that's in KC. I can't think of his last name right now. He has a Bowyers meeting every Wednesday night that's open to anybody. Super guy and a very knowledgeable Bowyer. There was a post on here a while back about it. Ill see if I can find it for ya. Patrick
