New knife for display
« on: October 23, 2014, 07:47:23 pm »

Blade is costal plains chert (raw so no heat treatment applied).  Antler handle, wish I could take credit for the artwork on the handle but that's beyond my skill.  Hope y'all like.

Trapper, I got it off ebay.  Typed in carved antler knife handle.  Had a lot of nice handles available, I wanted the Native American look for this one.

Yep, +1!
... alone in distant woods or fields, in unpretending sproutlands or pastures tracked by rabbits, even in a bleak and, to most, cheerless day .... .  I suppose that this value, in my case, is equivalent to what others get by churchgoing & prayer.  Hank Thoreau, 1857

Mullet, yes it is.   We call it "dump" rock.  It came from the city dump in Dothan lol.  When they dug into the dump the found a lot of costal plains.  Well one of the workers was a knapper and told th to dump the rock on his property.  So there is literally tons of it available.
