Wing bone turkey call for PatB
« on: October 22, 2014, 11:43:27 pm »
PatB, was nice enough to offer me some of his deer rawhide to back a bow I had a splinter raise on. I wanted to send him something in return to say thank you. Since I don't have much of a stock pile of anything. I offered one of my hand made wing bone turkey calls.  Pat said he would love one.

I haven't finished one of these in several years. I checked my box and had 2 assembled so I Done some finish sanding and dyed it the way my grandpa taught me. (that's a secret, lol) I braided some artificial sinew for a neck cord and wrapped the joints with some green serving material. I signed it and sprayed a couple coats of shellac on it.
Hope you like it Pat! I noticed that the writing isn't the greatest but it's not to bad for me. Patrick

I'm glad you like it Pat! I'll put a little rubber band on the tip so it's easier to get a good seal on it. Learning to use it is up to you! I can make them all day but I'm not too good with calling with it. But they are awesome in the hands of someone that knows how to use them. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. Patrick

Thanks guy's! I haven't made any in years. I made the mistake of telling a bunch of people I worked with that I would make them for 20 bucks each if they would bring me the bones. I made so many that It got to be work and not fun. So I completely quite doing them. But it was nice to do another as a gift. Maybe I will make a few more for Christmas! Patrick

I've been told that been reeeeal good boy this year!  ;-)

I like turkey feather fletching and I too have friends at work that bring me their wings so I make them a call for providing me the feathers.  Here's one I did a few years ago....

I got the call yesterday. Patrick did a beautiful job making this wing bone call. Thank so much, Patrick. I don't turkey hunt but I will cherish your handiwork for years. Heck, it might get me in the spring woods after thunder chickens after all.

Your welcome Pat! I'm really glad you like it!
Be careful though, turkey hunting is an obsession! You will be doing like I am,  trying to make a short bow to shoot seated or out of a blind. Thanks for the rawhide, Patrick

Patrick, that's why I don't turkey hunt or knap. I really don't need another obsession!  ;)
