Ipe takedown
« on: March 16, 2015, 02:41:12 pm »
So I have one half ready to layout while the others handle overlays dry. It's 64" long. I plan on making the handle area for each billet 3" as I want to cut in a shelf. The fades are around 3". Kinda stretched out my norm. How wide should I go? And what shape? I was thinking 1 1/4" till mid limb then taper till tips. And yes the fade will be well I to the ipe.

Does my layout sound good? Ipe and myself do not get along. Last time it came to blows. It blew up and hit me in the mouth. Lol

Yeah that will work, just wouldn't cut a real deep shelf

I started and stopped a 3 pc twice now. Try to find my last thread. There was a bunch of good feedback in there.

So I have one sleeve on. It doesn't turn and no wiggle. The fit isn't the greatest but I shimmed from the bottom to tighten it up. Should I pin it or screw it?

Epoxy should be enough.

Thanks Chris. It looks pretty cool! I decided against a shelf, so just 3" fades outta the handle. It's not much of a width taper

So I got them together. There's a slight twist but it should be just fine. I Still have to cut out the profile on the one limb. What ya think?

And yes the sleeve goes in a little further. Just threw it together for a pic. It's pretty snug so I gotta sand a little more.
