aside from one small obsidian point, I only have glass.  Cheap and plentiful.  I rummage through the recycle bin often.  Son rolls his eyes everytime I come home with more bottles.  They are starting to talk about my alcohol problem. . .

Agreed! I was stone poor for most of my knapping experience as well.

Thanks.  I still end up making the point that my incompetence allows to come out.  Seldom have a style in mind when I start. It feels like my golf game.  Every tenth hit the ball flies off and makes me say "that's why people golf."  Every once in a while I have a flake that travels nicely and I think "that is why people knap."  I have never managed to overshoot a flake yet.

Where do you get the opaque glass?
