Post tiller heat treat?

Is there any benefit to heat treating a bow after final tillering? It's something I'd like to try again, maybe putting in some reflex to offset the 1.5" or so of set on a hickory bow I recently finished tillering.  Is there any risk to this?  What could I possibly gain?

Next question would be, how much reflex can realistically be expected to remain? Assuming I put in 3", is it typical for that to stay after shooting the bow again? I would assume tempering the belly while also adding reflex would give some modest gains, but the last time I tried I browned a tip through and caused a break there later.  Not in any hurry to do that again, but I am curious to see what kind of gains I could make...

Too many variables to give that answer. Your tiller job before and after is imperative. How well you temper it and where the reflex is added changes what's left. The environment you live in matters with hickory as well, the design and lay out of the bow also matters.

Held reflex aside, you will feel the benefits if done properly.
