atlatl and dart questions
« on: October 06, 2015, 01:22:03 pm »
on most atlatls ive seen folks make ,theres a spur to hold the dart on the atlatl and a hole in the back of the dart. i make them like this myself. however, would it work if it was the opposite? i mean the dart would be sharpened to a dull rounded point in the back and the atlatl would have a divet in it for the dart to rest into? it seems it would be a lot easier to build this way than the normal way ive been doing it. has anyone else tried this? thanks Tony

sounds completely logical, so i don't see why it wouldn't work.

I make them with the dart fore shaft tapered on the back and the main shaft is large Cain so the hole is already there, just push the dart in the hole. :)

You can do it that way, I've heard several references to doing it like that. The atlatl has a depression and the shaft fits not it.
Whatever you are, be a good one.
