Congrats on a good harvest Brad, Those spikes and forkies are what I seem to get the most of when I'm lucky enough to take a deer, good eating,
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.

it was the only deer that came close enough for me to take a shot,, I have not practiced enough this year... so I had a pretty close comfort range,, just got lucky and the deer came in to my effective range,, I am having venison for dinner tonight so its all good ,,I am always amazed how effective the bow and arrow can be,, its fulfilling to make one and bring home some meat,, :)

I'm the same as you, if it gets close and I don't have any meat, it's almost as if it's already on the table. 8)
Whatever you are, be a good one.

Nice shooting B-rad. Cool little bow to.

thanks guys for the positive comments,, yes I have been savoring it,, all I want to do is make a new bow for my next trip, but I have to work,,,cant really concentrate cause part of my soul is still in that tree in texas waiting for a deer,, it was a very special hunt for me,, cause I have not been able to go in a while,, the stave I made the bow from was from a friend in Texas,, the head Jerry gave to me bout 20 years ago,, the arrow was made by another very special friend more than a decade ago as well,, I felt their presence  and well wishes with me as I hunted,,, I shot the deer late so waited till next morning to track, the rancher went with me but no tracking was required,, he was a few yards from where I last saw him,, the rancher had never seen anyone kill a deer with a wood bow and arrow,, it was fun to see the look on his face when we turned the deer over and the arrow had penetrated the whole deer,, I had an ice chest with me so I skinned and quartered it and it went right in to the ice,, it has been some great eating,, I have the sinew and hide for my next project and a nice osage stave resting on the couch,,while I try to visualize the best way to orientate the new bow I  imagine is in there,, thanks again for your comments and good hunting to you,, B
