Horn Choices
« on: November 06, 2015, 12:47:39 am »
I am beginning to get ready to make my first horn bow and have ordered from Africa a Gemsbok set of horms.
I read that the Mongols used these.
Has anyone used these horns and how do they compare to other alternative horns?
Suggestions?

They say water buffalo can be a little denser but that's like splitting hairs. The gemsbok performs well.Maybe someone who has used both could comment on that. There's a build along that shows a person how to get two laminations for the limbs from gemsbok horns. While I'm sure I've seen fellas do fantastic work with sheephorn and the like.Your male horns will be shorter and thicker while you female horns will be longer and thinner.Good luck and have fun.
