Antler is hard to learn but is even harder to jump in and attack the hardest part first. At times this is the best solution. I did not want to work the base or tip so I cleaned up the flattest side and climbed the mountain from one side only. The following is an example of how to knap the top side of the platform. Reverse so to speak and easy to snap a piece doing this but it was my path tonight and thought people might enjoy my fun.

I always refer to it as taking the shell off of the turtle...Dang good job at thinning it. Was this all billet strikes or indirect? I would have liked to have seen the platform on your last flake.

it was done with billet strikes. I think I can assemble it and photograph it when I get home and let you see the platform.

I get it. But I had to go back and compare photos several times to see it. I'd like to see the billet to get a gauge on shape and diameter. What do you use for your abrader...sandstone?

Here is the bifaced stone ready to preform tomorrow or break in half lol also I included a picture of my step recovery. I don't try to remove it in one hit. I hit it softly many time to continue the crack. This time it worked

My abraider came from the creek. I think is basalt.

OK here are a few more pictures from the work that I did this morning
Everything seem to be going as planned until I came across a pocket with a fracture in it seen at the tip. I decided to ignore the fracture and continue to work the point as though it was not there.

In the last photo you saw me pointing at a delta that needed to be pushed off to prevent over shot. Starting with the last picture from the last post I am pressure flaking with an ishi stick.
