I have talked to a lot of guys who knapped points and then had successfully taken deer with them. Tower texted me pictures today of a really nice set of points he made and we talked about making this thread to invite guys to this thread and post points that took deer. This way others can see the sucess of stone points. Tower could you start us off with your work?

Most of my points are totally broke from past though and hitting rock. Three coyotes three deer and one monster bear I'll trying get a pick up of the bear piont.

John, here is a picture of a real crude kekouk point that I shot this deer with a couple yrs ago.Osage bow and cane arrow. Same results as a modern steel point, Venison for supper.

Don, It was a corner notched type, I believe I trimmed down the sides of base so they didn't stick out past the shaft to much, It was pretty crude but it flew great so it got the ride that Nov. day. Bob

Here are a few pics of my stone points this year . 6 I started hunting with & 2 that have already taken home meat. I will post some older kill points tomorrow

Tower your attachment to the shaft looks like it held up well. Is that pine pitch and sinew?

This is a copper knapped point I made and that took my first deer. I also made the shaft from red oak. The fibers holding the feathers are milkweed dyed with stag horn sumac and the glue use for the feathers and plant fiber I made from a deer hide. The black material holding the point to the shaft is pine pitch glue. The wrap holding the point is sinew.
The paint on the shaft is made from stag horn sumac (orange) and the black paint is made from charcoal and egg yoke.
If I remember right the bow was 50 lbs.
