David, love your get up and go, but try not to get way ahead of yourself. It will happen (the bow will get done) and it would be better if ya wound up with 3 more sticks to play with than having to start over .....damned I sound like a old man, eh?

Mr Andersson... that set up looks good to me.....got the job done, no?

Looope, that's gonna be a looker when ya get 'er done.....you got a pair my friend

Mr. Kid.....that stave stash is pure eye candy right there

Man this trade is rockin, even got the old man all excited and that aint happened for awhile now. I am lovin this stuff.

I managed to do a little work on my BL last night.  I just about have the limbs evened up and have it at a higher brace.  It looks much better now.  I have drawn it to 16 inches so far so it is getting close.  Time for. Me to slow down and go very careful.

Loope, that stave sure is looking nice.

Rich those bows are looking good

Loope that is one snakey stave. That will be fun to scrape down to bow shape

DKID those are some nice staves

Fred sorry don't know nothing about sinueing besides it threw a lot of reflex in that bow

Everybody else. I'm enjoying reading and trying to keep up. But it's time for me to slow way down. I will post some pics this weekend when I get some filleting done.

Keep the wood a flying !!!

Fred
I've only done a couple sinew backed bows so my suggestions/questions haven't been tried and may not be good advice at all. ;D

Can you just build an extra layer on one limb? Maybe shave just that limb down a little first as well. Or... Could the weaker limb be propped up for the next application? As previously stated I have no idea if these are viable options, but seemed like possible solutions.
I have nothing but scorn for all weird ideas other than my own.

Swampman that IS pretty!
willie, thanks!

Everybody, too many names to count for sayin' you all are making this a terrific group project.

ps. I'm one of the impatient ones, now forcing myself to go slow on my plan B bow.

Lesseee now uhhhhhh, fingers tapping, pacing back and forth, looking for the tenth time this morning at that stave. No. nope. nope. wait for it.

Aaaahhhh the heck with it, I can always build a plan C...........
I love it when a plan B comes together....

OK, so I straightened the stave again, boiling ti first then hitting it with dry heat

then while it was straight, roughed out the handle and cut it in half, so now if everything drops out of square I can adjust the mating surfaces of the joint, which I'll line with leather to make up the width of the saw kerf and which should also act as a high friction surface.

The trilam is up and shooting  time for a very light final sand then a nice glossy finish, which  means its time to start on plan b an osage elb

As being new to the forum eveyone is very welcoming, this is one enjoyable trade !!

I would love to have every ones thoughts on tiller on this guy  hickory backed, cherry core, osage belly its pushing a 850 grain hickory 135fps so not to bad in my oppion  :)

CBG it looks bad close if you get your camera guy to line your riser up with the metal ribs on the building then come to full draw and take a pic. I hope that's clear as mud. Haha then we can see the tiller with the lines on the metal

How do you guys lay out your limb thickness? I have the pyramid cut out, but now I need to thin them up. Is there a certain tool you use for thinning then down?
