Mr. Gutshot,
That there bow is looking real sweet, and man you been puttin in the work on that baby.
Them double bows are from the Penobscot Native American up in the North East. Always fascinated me so thought I would build some.....did a post on 'em....and Don Burchett has been testing one for a little bit now.....he has a post also. I guess they are real fast arrow speed for whatever draw weight they are pulling.
I got some museum pictures if ya want to see one of the originals

Those tips are looking sweet ajooter - and the back is is looking nice too, that knot looks fine.  I just usually remove varnish, paint, glue, etc. carefully with a scraper and course (80 grit or so) paper.

Gutshot - that osage is coming along real nice - looking forward to the progress.  You have a bunch of shavings and dust there on the floor!!!  ;D

I worked on my hackberry a bit this afternoon - pictures here in a bit.
Enjoy the hunt!  Mitch

Began tillering the hackberry - taking it slow and steady.  Just have a long string on and only pulling it to 11" at 40#.  Just starting to bend.

Snapped a pic of side profile before starting to compare to as I tiller it out.  Drew a black line on the board across the top of the limbs - will be able to determine when and where any set begins.

1st pic - before starting to tiller.
2nd pic - pulling with the long string to 11" or so.
3rd pic - current profile pic.
Enjoy the hunt!  Mitch

You guys bows are looking great, I'm going to have to get on the ball.

Rich, those bows intrigue me. I'm going to have to study that design. It would feel awkward for me to use as a hunting bow but maybe a guy would get used to it.

I'm going to have to cut down some of the hackberry out here this year and start seasoning some staves.

Mitch, how wide did you leave yours?
I found many years ago that it is much easier and more rewarding working with those that don't know anything than those that know it all.

Great idea on the board buddy!
At first I said "what the %6&% is on the back of that bow?"

Hey Rich, are those tough to get braced? I'd probably hurt myself  :'(

Fred, did I win the first drawing??? Oh, wait, I aint in it am I  ;) ;)

But seriously, when is the first prize drawing man?

Fred would it be to much trouble to ask of you to repost a list of all the guys that's in the trade. I have looked for it but just can't find it.

Gutshot, go back to the very first page. The list is there.
