I'm tired of chasing rings. 9 so far. I'm thinking of putting it up for awhile and go ahead and start tillering the BL.

In my opinion sinew wraps are good for holdin cracks together and splinters down , but don't think it does much for frets. I have seen bows on this site that had belly patches done in various ways but i have no experience with any of them. The hickory's looking good though.

I am starting to like it too much I think.

Heres the ones I done for this trade at floor tiller at this point L-R:  66" lilac (no ring chased of course), 65" osage, and 63" osage.

Then some more I started in the few weeks prior to the trade so I guess I can't use them in this deal....or can I? HMMM??? One never knows  >:D >:D

Guess it's time for some nocks and a tillering extravaganza! Anybody got a great scraper for trade  ;D

Hammertime, don't think I can help you with the first pic.  In the second pic, is the bow perfectly vertical?  If so, your top limb looks stiff right out of the fade.  Sometimes images can fool you though.  Look at it from both sides and see what you think.

No fire place for this Osage I will make a promise that it will make a bow even if it's only 10lbs

Hey Hammer, I would be pretty leery of ERC with frets unless I could bring it down to get rid of them completely and get close to the weight still. I love the wood but I have had one explode without a backing and it was dramatic. I wouldn't draw it any further until I got the frets out and even bending limbs, then I'd shorten it a little and sinew it if it was bending nice and had enough left to get a sweet bow from. That's just me though. Liking that hickory though  ;)

Hey Hammertime, what weight are you pulling on the ERC in that pic?

Hammertime, top limb is a little stiff but not much. Are the limbs the same length? If they are flip it over and show us the same draw.

TimothyR, I like to use a tillering gizmo at this stage or even a rectangle scraper to check the limbs for bending evenly. My eyes aren't good enough at picking out small discrepancies.

I found many years ago that it is much easier and more rewarding working with those that don't know anything than those that know it all.

TimothyR, looks very good except where noted.  That area looks like it could develop a hinge......I would watch it closely.  Looking super otherwise.
