Latest Hickory
« on: February 08, 2016, 09:51:38 pm »
This is my latest shagbark bow. I cut the tree, which was about about a 6" diameter trunk at the base several years ago and it sat in my dads garage since. A few weeks ago I split it down the middle and went to work. It turned out 66" 47#@26. Its fast and retains just a little set, most it which it gives back. I used rit dye for the stain and several coats of true oil. Sorry no full draw pics.. My wife is out of town and my dog isn't a good camera man!

Also I named it "The back 20" since I cut it off my back 20 acres. Thanks for looking

"Nothin' like a good piece of hickory."  -Preacher, Pale Rider

I can't say anything about that bow better than the way Clint Eastwood delivered that line, so I will shut up now.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.
