Maybe both- one type on each side of the Dam

I don't know, Don. But the ones I saw at Taxidermy shops were huge and real fat.

That is two nice skrippers. SC used to have the corner on the market for hatchlings and stocking our lakes with those rascals. I think it is common in most states now. Cut out that dark meat and cut to fingers and deep fry. Hard to beat with some good sweet corn hushpuppies.

Sorry Zuma I just noticed your trade offer. I'm really just getting started at this stuff and trying to gather materials yet not sure if I got anything you want. My points are no comparison to yours don't really have stone might be able to come up with Chert Ball ever use one of those those? Hard to work but one durable point. Maybe Red Oiser or Turkey feathers. In all honesty I'd love to see what that creative mind and talented hands of yours does with them. Thanks for asking

Don, sure have. The TBOF Shoots are just down the road at the FWC Conservation Center and my old Lease was just up the road from there. Did you try any of the mullet and blue crabs from Lake George when you were in that area?

Rob, Trout fishing is more fun. To catch the stripers you get up at 3 am
drive 3 1/2 hours thru Beltway traffic load the boat with food drink and ice.
Sail out through the shallows and crab traps for 5 miles or so.
Set 7 lines out on planner boards that include 14 pounds of weight and lures.
Dodge the other vessels including very fast ocean going freighters.
When you hook one you have to reel it in at trolling speed -3 knots,
so all the other hardeware doesn't snag bottom.
Of course you have to repeat the process in reverse before you can get
home and fillet the fish.

Don, looks like you had a great time. Our Lake Michigan fishing is much the same as you described with getting there and then dodging boats and other fishermen. I never took to big lake fishing because of the expense but I used to live on the rivers between work shifts. We used to have some of the best trout fishing around but not so much anymore.

We had a section on a river that was flies only. We fished with wet flies that we tied. The biggest I brought home and ate was a 16# steelhead using 4# leader on 8# main line. That was a half hour battle.
