Eddie, it was a fun day with my dad, brother and friend. Our limit was 20 trout and called it a day with 19, one shy of our limit. We had several in the 10/12 pound range.  It took 3 trips to the truck to get all the fish in the cooler.  That river used to be a fun time BUT the tree hungers got in there and now it is barbless hooks and catch and release.

Don, used to river fish for salmon in October in that same flies only stretch.  Used 8# main line only with wets flies. Can't tell you how many we caught over the years but that was some time ago. Our DNR has let the fisheries slip by the way side. That section of river was the spawning grounds with low fast running water.

We caught many in the  mid 20# weight range. I don't fish so much any more.  Still have a hand full of Fenwick blanks to tie up for the grand kids before my eyesight goes completely bad.

Walleye cheeks.

Over all our state used to be pretty good fishing but our DNR has slowed down in the fisheries department.  There was a day a few years ago that I knew I could go up on a river and come back with a limit of trout every time I went up but they quit planting them for the most part.

Don, you are right, those were the days.
