Old unfinished bade & point
« on: May 23, 2016, 10:48:27 am »
Nothing special but while looking for the little knife. I found a knife blade I'd started along time ago. It's make from a core flake.

And I would have make a great knife. BUT

So I also found a started point. I'd started who knows when. I'll finish it soon. It's some kind of off white, hard chert. Chips hard. Could be some rock that wasn't cooked right. Who knows at one time I had tonssssss of rock.

I'VE MADE A LOT OF GRAVEL

A knapper has to be prepared for some to break. The longer a person knaps, the lower percentage he breaks unless he is just constantly pushing the boundaries.

That was from some cooked rock that was baddy done. That's why I never finshed it, super hard I broke it punching it. I did really good as you can see on the pic's. I punched it way down and was ready to start knap and shapen the edge next.

I've broken a bucket full of points and tips. But your right you'll get better at taking care of your tips.
