My hunting buddy and I have dropped well over a 100 pigs in the last year out on our place. They're very aware of people but I dont think I'd call them skiddish. (Or maybe I'm that good  >:D) Most of the hunting there is out around rice and milo fields so cover is very sparse. We usually hunt with shotguns and have taken most of them from 12 to 40 yrds. The land owner has an appreciation for us bow hunters but prefers that we get rid of them instead of hunting them. This one is on the small side, most of them are twice as big. I'll put up a pic of a big one later, I'm in a meeting right now and they think I'm emailing my client. :o

Cheers

I see ok.Stay out of trouble there.
Yes up here in Iowa we are'nt plagued with them much yet but they keep saying their moving on up.They are a nuisence for sure.My buddies go down to Texas and have better luck shooting them at night with their long bows because they are getting too smart in the day time.Owners of the land want to get rid of them also.Fun time all around.
Look forward to more pics of those pigs.

Congratulations, Gilbert! Ground stalking pigs is my favorite kind of hunting. Glad to see you got a tasty sow instead of a stinky, ol' boar.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

How's the meat on them wild pigs? Just curious, can't say I've ever eaten anything but raised stock.

Nice hunting and congrats on a successful hunt. Are you down by the coast?

The sows taste great, not "wild" tasting at all, but the big boar meat has a lot of "flavor". A couple of days in a brine helps but it still may not be for everyone.

Thank you Sir, I've gotten close several times with bow and arrow, just couldn't get close enough. As you can see there's not much to hide behind out on a rice paddy. I'm in Houston but my hunting place is about an hour away, close to Eagle Lake, Southwest of here. It's mostly farmland out there, rice, corn, soybean and milo. These hogs get to eat well and get very big really fast.
