Latest hog, Hawaii
« on: September 23, 2016, 12:12:48 pm »
Got this little guy the other night with the guava bow I posted awhile back. Bow thread on page 7 of bows forum, latest guava. Shot him with a turkey feather fletched bamboo shaft with a forged uddeholm 15n20 steel broadhead. It's a scandinavian steel I use in my damascus and for kitchen knives. Anyway, shot him in the dark, in my bath towel as I was headed for the outdoor shower when the hogs came in. Grabbed the bow and 2 arrows and ran down the driveway. Had about a 3 minute wait til he walked out of the jungle onto the driveway at about 10 yards. Hit him maybe an inch or 2 high, total darkness, could just see his siluette, he went under 40 yards with good blood trail my 3 boys did a great job tracking him in the rain through the jungle. Bbq the back straps last night! Delicious!

Awesome!!! I bet they were all hopped up on tracking it! I still remember the first time dad took me out tracking down a kill and that was just a raccoon down in SC, I would have been 6 or 7. Great job!

Nice kill, I always enjoy seeing the pictures and hearing the tale behind someone's successful primitive bow kill. They usually don't start out with the hunter heading to the shower though.  :)
Congrats, enjoy that delicious pork.
