What did I make today?
« on: September 25, 2016, 02:43:05 pm »
I was working on a some OBS and attempting to make a Dalton 8). I should have had some pictures with me :o. So this is what I ended up with and I do not know if it would be considered a Dalton or not ???. If someone knows what point type it most likely resembles please let me know.

Thank you.

Tom, I am not a pro at point types so take this for what it's worth, looks like a Dalton Hemphill or a Darl. Beautiful point no matter what ya call it, Nice one. Bob

Ah yes, I looked that up in the book of
Cool Points, and there it was. They are
described as "thin, sharp and deadly looking"
Nice point. Not really a Dalton, more an expanding stemmed.

Thanks for the responses. I was using my memory and it need some work ;D the memory that is. I like how the point came out and I like the expanding stemmed type point. Some times I never know what it will be in the end.

I have always have had trouble getting Dalton right.
Well, at least the big classical (most likely modern made) type.
The base is usually wider than the rest on found Daltons,
because the blade was sharpened on the shaft.

It sure is pretty Majuba Tom, I'm sure any tribe would have been proud to have it. Mine hardly ever look like they do in my head when I first start on a spall
