New hunting set for 2016
« on: October 18, 2016, 02:19:30 pm »
This is my latest bow. Built it for myself for a new and improved hunting set for the season.

65" osage self bow
46# @ 28"
Mass of 470 grams
1-1/4" wide limbs, tapering to 1/2"
Mild Reflex / Deflex design that took about 1/2" of set
Cow horn nocks from a horn I found near my parents barn
Brain tanned deer leather grip
8 strand endless loop fast flight string, with beaver silencers
I gave the osage a dappled look using a water based stain

Arrows are gray dogwood shoots (520 gr and 600 gr total)
Stone points are from Stringman and weigh 140 grains
Hafted with deer sinew and pine pitch glue
Turkey primary fletchings

Case skinned raccoon quiver

Oh yeah!  You have a very artistic eye and great finish work.  I would have trouble remembering to look for deer if I was carrying that bow!
