After an hour of steaming it I chose the wrong type of clamp and didn't get it bent quick enough.  I grabbed a heat gun and slowly bent it a little farther than I needed to.  I'm expecting it to spring back a little bit when I take the clamp off.  The knot didn't straighten out much.  Most of the bend happened just above it.  As long as it lines up I think it will work.  I didn't hear any cracks or pops when I bent it.  I think it's going to work.

You should just set up a web cam in your shop and live stream what you do. I'm excited to see this through.

Clint, that handle would go well with a broad hatchet for hewing logs with that offset handle.

There ya go!    ;)
That could be said for a bunch of these guys.

Ol' Chuck would appreciate it, I just bet!

Hey, Clint?  Where have we seen that unusual and fascinating woodburner before?

That thing works great JW.   It's saving me on my electric bill.  On really cold days it would take 2 space heaters to keep my shop warm.

It didn't spring back as much as I was expecting.  I hit it with the heat gun and just let it relax a little at the bend.  I'm going to call it good enough.  It's got a little hump where the knot is but the head lines up with the grip.  I took a few practice swings and it feels like its in line.  I won't be able to finish it up until the weekend.

Just like with bows and arrows if the head and handle line up what's in between can be character. Pearlie owns the rest of that stave now.
