Would this work for a blunt tip?

I used duplex nails for the points on a few arrows I'm working on.  I was going to grind the flat head into a point.  Then I had a thought, would this work as a good blunt point for small game like rabbits or squirrels?  There is plenty of weight with the rest of the nail going into the arrow shaft.

Would prolly work Clint. Seems like maybe not enough surface area but who knows? Have your daughter shoot you in the leg and see if it leaves a bruise  :o

I think it will punch a hole more like a field point.  A little washer under that first nail head makes a good blunt.  I like that thread wrap too.

No way would I want to get hit with one of these.   The thread is heavy duty coat thread.    It's really strong.  I'll soak the wrap behind the point with epoxy.  I wrap the feathers with the same thing and soak that with superglue 2x. 

Howard, good idea on the washer.   I'll remember that next time.

Robbie Limerick brought some blunts made with a small washer like that.  They fly better than you think they will, in spite of there lack of an aerodynamic shape and they are hard to lose in the grass.

Something like a Cottontail , it will probably punch right through it. I've blown through them with small Judos.

I could probably glue one of those 2" mechanical points on an arrow and never leave a scratch on a rabbit  ;D

I had an arrow to repair, well more than one but i did a little experiment with a full duplex on a fieldpoint target, bounced off everytime, i still think it would blow threw a rabbit or squirrel

I ground them all down to a point except for one.  I'm saving it for the steel drums when I shoot the course with the Dancing Bear  >:D  That flat tip should make a good sound.
