ROCK RUNNN!!
« on: February 18, 2017, 09:18:14 pm »
With temps in the 70's today and the pile a little low I loaded up the quad and hit the creek. Davey brought his boy and we had a ball! Picked up almost 400# of burlington and we were very picky. At noon we started a hat full of fire and had a snack. After the break we got back to it and went up creek to a new spot and hit more pay dirt.

The little guy started gettin tired and we finally headed home. With everything sorted I have 2 full buckets of "ready to heat" thin and small pieces. The rest is bigger stuff that will need some spallin first. Lotsa good color in there.

That's a sweet rock haul. That's exactly 400lbs more than I've ever been able to find.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

Nice way to start a early spring Scott. Sure wish I had access to Stone like that. Good for you I'm sure you'll make some fantastic stuff out of it.

I'm gonna have to try some of that one day. Almost bought some at the knap in yesterday but it looked a little rough.

Yep, definitely got some working capitol now. Just threw a bucket in the kiln and hope to have several buckets of heated stuff by May.

Eddie this stuff isn't like the burlington you will buy. In fact, I'm not sure Ive seen anybody else with it. Color patterns are very unique. Ill be sure an set some aside for ya.

The work of a few mins...

The color is better after heat, but when it works this well I wonder why even do it!

Yep, that was some kinda fantastic weekend! Glad you had opp to get out and enjoy.

That's really cool, Scott!  Wish I could take off on a North American rock run/stave gathering tour.
