OOPS!! I will never leave it alone again
« on: February 22, 2017, 08:44:03 pm »
Hurried up and put it in a mic stand that it had never fell out of before. Stepped upstairs for 2 minutes and started smelling smoke. It fell this time and was aiming straight down into work table. Bow is salvageable. Could have been the house in 2 more minutes.

Wife banished me to garage.  :-[ Seems reasonable actually.

I've been there. You definitely don't want that! I'm sure glad you caught it in time. After experiencing it myself, I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

At least she didn't banish you period. Try a dozen roses, box of chocolate, and maybe a bottle of her favorite wine😀🙂, and don't leave the torch unattended.  Glad you caught it in time!

Yikes. I have a big "C" shaped burn on my forearm from a heat gun incident last week. I set the gun down on my bench and carelessly reached over it to get something....took off several layers of skin very quickly.

Smokey says "If it's to hot to touch, it's to hot to leave."  "Remember, only you can prevent bow shop fires."

Glad to hear you have a good nose and caught it in time.

You're lucky the wife gave you the garage. Mine would have put me out in the yard.  ;D

Mine would have grounded me from making bows for a while if that happened.  Lesson learned.  Also, a little "good behavior" could help, like doing some chores around the house that she normally does (usually works for me!).

I had to stay in a hotel recently for work so I brought some arrow shafts and my heat gun with me.  I thought I would pass the time straightening some dogwood shoots.  BAD IDEA.  The heat gun set of the sensitive heat sensor and the fire alarm went off.  Of course they knew exactly what room set the alarm off.  I had some explaining to do.  I didn't tell my wife about this.

I was up in your area when this happened Dubois.  Next time I will have to bring my heat gun to your place.  (Of course only if your wife isn't around)😏
