Shed hunting

A couple hours of shed hunting on around 20 acres or so.A couple of rights and a couple of lefts but no pairs.

Oh..From R to L...A 12 point,a 10 point,a 6 point,and a small 8 point.

We've lived here on our 25ac for over 26 years and only found 2 sheds, one was a beautiful 5point with a 28" main beam the other was about 6" of a 1" diameter base. Both were chewed to to heck by rodents. I think the rodents are why we don't find more.

Nice antlers.  I found a decent one at work a couple weeks ago.  We are still seeing bucks with racks around here.  Most have dropped already. 

Also, nice boot horn.  My dad had the exact same one when I was younger.

Nice thing about it Robin found the big one.That fired her up.They are from 4 different bucks of course.Last year we only found a couple.My neighbors brother actually sells labs that are shed hunting dogs but we found these ourselves. :-D
Chased up 4 woodcocks and 3 quails too.Just heard 1 rooster pheasant is all.We're kinda low on them around here.No turkeys gobbling yet either.

Don't know if it's spring fever or shed fever but I'm loosing my mind.... no shed hunting here in Utah till April 1st.... its the first time Utah has put the kybosh on shed hunting ever! The northern part of the state has had a ton of snow so they closed it to shed hunting till April 1st. Two days later they put a closure on the whole state. I guess so the northern "Utards" wouldn't swarm the southern half of the state. I'm all for not pressuring the deer/elk because of the hard winter, but I'm not sure everybody will abide by the rules... I hope they do. The DWR has been issuing citations also!
Sorry for the rant, just had to get that out! Hope y'all can find some good ones! Cheers!

You guys got the elk and mule deer sheds I imagine?Finding one of those is like finding 10 of whitetail here.It can get a little crazy here too people looking for them.No bans though.Thing is here they want them found.They go through the tractor tires during field work.Good luck finding some soon.
Then it's the morel mushroom hunters on the loose here soon too.

Most are still packing racks here.. Will probably wait till April 1st. Got 2 real nice mule deer and a moose last year on a morning walk. You found some real nice ones

I have been told the way to find sheds is to train your dog to fetch an antler and give him a nice treat every time he does it right. After he gets pretty good at it start hiding the antler, and when he finds it and brings it to you, give him a big treat. Pretty soon he will be a pro at finding antlers.
