Oh, shoot!
« on: April 23, 2017, 03:00:29 pm »
Somebody went and cut down some chokecherry at the dog park last spring.  A bunch of new shoots came up last year and I left them alone.  This spring as they are popping buds, I am stripping off the buds for the first 36" of the straightest in order to keep them from sending out branches later this spring.  When they fill out enough later this summer, I will wander through to do some constructive thinning.  So, yeah. Shoot.

This is a "wild park".  They pick up the trash cans and mow only rarely.  Just the way I like it!

Grafting and I bet that little sweetheart is expensive :D

PS about $60 Can. I wonder if it would work on dry wood, probably crush bamboo.

Actually, yes, I do know who cut down the chokecherry.  It was a guy named Ed with the parks department.  They were thinning and I talked with them about it.  Even got a name for the person to contact r.e. taking out a really nice pipe straight elm that is a sucker under a larger and healthier elm.....You know, to stop the stave...I mean SUCKER from preventing the larger elm from reaching it's full potential.  )W(
