Surprise
« on: April 26, 2017, 09:37:41 pm »
Imagine my surprise when my wife sends me a text today and tells me there is a tube that showed up on our front porch for me.  She said it came from Utah.  During the 2016 bow trade I received a tube from Utah and it was the most beautiful, great shooting yew bow I have ever seen from Jeffp51.  I had my wife send me a picture of the tube and I was able to verify that the tube was from Jeff.  I am not involved in any trades this year so I was a bit puzzled about the package.

I rushed home and opened the package.  Inside were 3 dogwood arrows (from black osier stock).  The arrows are beautiful and very well crafted.  Jeff made me 3 arrows spined to match the bow he had made me in 2016.  They are also weight matched within a few grains.  It was a totally unexpected gift from a great guy and great craftsman.  Thank you Jeff.  I haven't shot them yet because it is 37 degrees and raining but I will as soon as the weather improves.

I see the pictures ended up a little distorted from resizing them. The pictures don't really do the arrows Justice.  Mike

Nice people deserve to have nice things done for them, and there is no shortage of nice people on this site.  Mike is certainly one of them.  We have had a couple of conversations since the trade where I could see what kind of person he is, and I just felt like I ought to express my thanks for his kindness and indirectly thank everyone else on this site.  I get so much from this group somehow, that I was looking for a way to express it, and this seemed appropriate.  I would make something for each of you if I could.  So even if you don't get a package on your porch, thank you.

It stopped raining for a little bit today so I snuck out in the 33 degree weather and took a few shots with theses arrows.  All 3 arrows fly like darts and hit right where I am looking.  I am going to have a lot of fun shooting these.

Wow. I wish my arrows hit where I am looking--I guess they do if I am looking at the broad side of a barn. . . (SH).  Glad they work for you and I hope it warms up soon.  33 degrees at the end of may is awful.

This last weekend it was 70 degrees.  Now it is 33, windy and even snowing a bit.  The weather changes a lot in Minnesota.

Swampman,
Fear not!  Good news, the red oiser dogwood should still be in winter mode out your way - bad news - We are sending you yet another snowstorm out of the the Rockies😀👹. Glad to hear those arrows shoot well!
