Leave her there. Her little ones will start coming out of the den and you pick them off to. Chucks are the only animal I have disdain for, which came from farming.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

Hey if you get her, OneBow has been wanting a groundhog hide to make rawhide with for a drum.   No use to waste a good summer hide.

When I talked to my buddy Gary last weekend he had 189 ground hogs so far. That only includes confirmed kills. These things are everywhere around here. Pretty sure Mother Nature is going to have to come up with something to thin them out cause Gary isn't keeping up.

Never ate one, but they are supposed to be good.  Strictly vegetarian rodents, similar diet to rabbits.

Pearly, I have never seen kits here. Shot dozens of bucks/ sows. It's the fruit (peaches ect) in my neighbors yard that draws them; The crows, bears and squirrels knock a lot of fruit to the ground then the rabbits and hogs take over. I'll keep my eye peeled for a bit but it's in the 90's and I hate maggots.

Patches onebow better make it over here fast.
I could use some ax tying rawhide but to busy at the moment.

BJ just 189 from a wheel chair? That Dude is freakin AWESOME

Dancer I know a few that woof em down but they want pups/kits.
One guy fly's on his vacation from CA to NJ in the late spring just for puppyhog.
No really yeah no S#$t.

Thanks Stoker. I have connected at a farther range but they suffer a bit.
When they do I do too a little.

Nice shot, they really are good eating, pretty greasy but tasty when fresh cook and hot. I have several around but not near as many as we use to before the yotes got so thick. I usually don't bother them as long as they stay in the gullies and hill sides, if they get to digging in the fields then it's game on. :)

When I was ALOT Younger, I used to work on  a Dairy Farm. They had a "Barn" Dog - a Collie lookin' Cur, that was DEATH to any Wood Chuck She saw. She would get 10 - 15 a Year - catch 'Em away from the hole and grab them right behind the the Head and one quick shake - it was over  (A) ! Bob

Well Pearly, I left him/her to get kits but it was gone missing this morning :o
Lots of fox maybe yote?  :)
Bob  I had one on his hind feet, teeth chattering like a rock crusher
advancing towards my big beagle. He was ok until his feet hit the ground to run.
Then it was curtains for the rascal. Heck I remember trying to pull them back out of the den
with the feathered end of my arrow one actually chewed loose.

I used to have a farmer call me when he saw a chuck out in his bean field, I lived close and would drive over and exterminate the chuck with my super accurate .308. The farmer had some good deer hunting land so one day I asked him if I could get a permit to hunt his place. He said he didn't give out permits, I had been on call for years killing woodchucks for him and decided he could keep his woodchuck population intact, I never shot another one.

I don't hate Groundhogs , in French we call them un Siffleux which means Whistler, but also don't care to have them around the house.  They will eat anything and everything.  We had one just last week make his home under our porch, he had to go.

You should have live trapped a few Eric and brought them over to that farmers field just to replace the ones you shot.
