I found that an old wore out 120 grit belt on the belt sander works rather well. If not for the steady downpour I would have it tillered. Got it to a 3 inch brace.

I've missed this post Jon but I am looking forward to seeing this one. 

Ryan,  I've packed that piece of vine maple around for the last two years.  I got it from you when I met you at the classic.  It pulled into so much reflex and it had some knots in some places I didn't know quite what to do with.  So this year at mojam I asked Jon if he would like to give it a go. In his capable hands it should turn out to be a nice shooter!
