i am glad you were not taking bets on this bow cause I would have voted against it. Very impressive, it looks to be about the same dimensions as the other bow. What is the mass weight like compared to a similar bow you have made from finer grained yew? Sounds like it is hitting hard enough into that target.

I'ts much lighter in the hand than the slightly longer one. It'll be getting shot in over the next week and I'll report further, the two bows are of similar draw weight and maybe they can have a shoot off against each other some time.
The longer one was left a bit longer as it was more extreme in shape and needed a fair bit of heat work to make it even vaguely sensible enough to get on the tree.

I had 3 billets of the coarse grained Yew, the one that wasn't used, looks much straighter but has a dip/twist on one edge which I knew would be harder to tiller than the more even, but more extreme kink in the one I chose.
It was fun to see it being shot, shame I can't handle that weight these days and even if I trained up, it would play havoc with the tennis elbow.

Very impressive Del, I've been following the progress...and I have a new found respect for low ring count yew, this proves it worth using.  8)

That is awesome Del! Those thuds from the arrows are a really satisfying sound isn't it? Great bow! And props to your mate JT for making it look easy to pull that weight!
