Crape Myrtle?
« on: August 19, 2017, 08:38:03 pm »
My cousin in California has a Crape Myrtle bush and thinks it would maybe make good arrow shafts. I don't know anything about it. Any advice? Thanks

Will do Pat, I'll try almost anything once. More if I like it.

I see no reason why they shouldn't make good arrows as long as you can find some with the right physical characteristics.

I made three arras from it. Seemed to be decent material with good spine.

Thanks JonW, spine was my biggest concern. Any concerns for harvesting and curing?

I would be inclined to say no. The ones I cut I just threw in the back of my truck and actually forgot about them. I didn't make arras untill a year or so later.
