5 piece breakdown Yew
« on: November 24, 2017, 01:39:02 pm »
I've shot this thousands of times. Last week I retillered it to lighten it up so I could get a decent full draw, 27.5 instead of the 25-26 at the old weight. I shot it at least another 500 times since the retiller and then this. Interesting thing is that both tip overlays disappeared, shock I guess. I'm thinking the knot in the second pic let go. Broke at full draw. All the pieces missed me.

Actually there was a big crack and I was standing there with a really short bow and a string draped over my wrist.

That is a good takedown bow DC, you can put it in a briefcase! Anyways, it's a bummer and I am glad you weren't hurt.

Ah, but it's a very nice symmetrical break, as sign of good tiller ;D ::) >:D
I feel your pain, it's funny how some bows that feel really secure can just take you by surprise and go bang, but others that make you feel nervous turn out fine...

I probably wouldn't hear the warning creaks and ticks before big boom boom!!  Probably get hit by all five pieces in various places!  Glad you are all right!
