New bow
« on: February 07, 2018, 08:47:47 pm »
Hey folks, man it’s been way too long, but finally got around to finishing this bow. This is an iron wood stave Rich gave me a couple years ago. I started it last year about this time, and then set it in the corner. Don’t remember how long it is, haven’t measured it in almost a year. It is 62# at 26”. My favorite of course, bendy handle, with some diamondwood pin nocks. Hope you all like it. Thanks for lookin.

great looking bow! I like the side profile, reminds me of some of the native bows I have seen in the Encyclopedia of American Native Bows, Arrows and Qivers

Thanks fellas! It sure was nice to get back at making a bendy a stick. I've been spending a lot of time messing with turkey calls, and everything else for a while now. This one will be my hunting bow for this year..unless I get really motivated and make another. ;)

Rich, this stave was knarly for sure. I wasn't sure I would be able to get a bow from it. You all can't see in the pics, there's a couple decent size knots, and also a crack running up the belly of the bow for about 8". I filled it with sawdust, and super glue. Really didn't think this one would survive. Goes to show what ironwood is capable of. I love this stuff.
