Aidan's Bow
« on: February 11, 2018, 02:52:59 pm »
My brother and his wife Aidan came to visit over Christmas and Aidan expressed some interest in a bow. She grew up in New Hampshire with lots of exposure to nature and she's the kinda girl who just looks like an archer.  (SH) I handed her a 50#er and she drew it quite far. We decided that something around 45# would be ideal. This woman is strong!  )P(

So here's what I came up with for her. I'm gonna email her this link so Aidan if you're reading this, I sure hope you like it... :)

Heat-treated hackberry
63" tip to tip
45# @ 28"
yellow birch bark backing
whitetail antler overlays
leather handle
brown trout skin arrow pass
"Even as the archer loves the arrow that flies, so too he loves the bow that remains constant in his hands."

I'd say you're getting the hang of this stuff. Very nice gesture and cool bow.

Really nice work, glad you're starting her off with a real bow! And that comment has nothing to do with draw weight.

I don't normally go for shaped handles on self bows, but you have done a brilliant job with this one. Balance in the hand looks really good.
Nice work indeed.

Adian should be smiling shooting that one Jeff. Sweet bend and profiles. Very nice to help the lady get into primitive Archery to.
