Ryan I'm not a rock expert, but it looks knapable from my phone. Hopefully someone else more schooled in rock will help you out here. Might help if they knew what region you got it from. You can PM me the exact coordinates.lol.
Hope you get some nice points from it.

No clue. Reminds me of black and white nova but clearly isn't. Certainly knappable which is better than knowing the name...haha

To me it looks like a low grade Dacite or Gneiss.

If it is low grade dacite, should I heat treat it? Spalls real easy however...

Heat won't make glass products chip any better. If it is low grade dacite, I think it may have ash crumbs in it. Those can cause trouble.

Some spalls

This last photo you posted shows a coral nodule mixed in with the spalls - it's located on the upper right side of the photo. I can see the polyps. Rick B

Rick, those do look like polyps. I've never seen coral like that, though. I'd say whack on it and see if it works, no heat.

It’s not a nodule, It’s just the empty shell of a dead coral, lots of them around here

Yeah, lesson learned, don’t try to knap stuff with this many inclusions, knaps like concrete and the flakes dont travel
