Finished a new set of cane arrows
« on: May 05, 2018, 10:13:13 pm »
I just finished up this set of cane arrows. They have self nock and turkey tail fletchings bound with elk sinew. This is the first time I've tried the duplex nail field tips. I really enjoyed every aspect of these arrows and I will definitely make some more sets like this after I forget what a pain in the butt they are to make.  ;D

You must have spent a TON of time to get 12 arrows to tune and spine all at the same length. You are a patient man!

Beautiful arrows Weylin. Curious as to how they shoot. The detail in your work is very impressive.

They look pretty darn good from here.  What's your thoughts on the duplex nail points?

I like the tail feathers.  How do they compare to wing feathers for shooting?

Those arrows look amazing.  There is a lot of time spent on thoughts I bet.  Very nice work.

Thanks everyone.

Very nice. What kind of cane is that?

Morgan, the cane is bamboo. I'm not certain exactly which kind.

Chris, I can't claim credit for that end of the operation. I bought these shafts already spined, matched and straightened. Well worth the money because you're right. That is a TON of work.

Steve, thank you. they shoot great! I'm really happy with how they fly.

I like the tail feathers.  How do they compare to wing feathers for shooting?
Jeff, I agree that the tail feathers are pretty. They are not as stiff as primary feathers and don't have as much oil in them. I don't notice any problem with how they shoot. They may not be as durable in the long run but I was given two turkey tails and I wanted to use what I had.

Beautiful set! Who ever did the work straightening and spinning all of them, I'd sure like to now.

You made those garden stakes look goooooood! I’ve never tried cane or boo but if I did I’d want em looking like that!

Thanks again, fellas

Beautiful set! Who ever did the work straightening and spinning all of them, I'd sure like to now.

I got them from a gentleman named Dustin Black. He's on some of the facebook groups.
