Is this deep enough? I have to tidy up the end a bit.

yes.  smooth out the transition from stone to wood and make sure the shaft is wrapped below the base of the point.

I saw a video of a guy mounting atlatl dart points and he used pitch to glue before tying with sinew.  Does anyone here use some form of glue?

Well, guess I'm a little different. I think it's good like it is. I never really cared if it came off after it's inside a big piece of meat. I figured it would just make more damage every time the animal moved. I'd just wrap it about two inches below the point and smooth the transition with sandpaper and pine pitch.

I use pitch glue along with a sinew wrap then seal the wrap with pitch varnish.

yeah lil deeper is better..make sure it is trued...the transition from stone to wood has to be slicker than owl poop... or it will basically bounce off target..found that out the hard way..lol..

  DC,
I think you are good there...Just need to mount it correctly...As others have said watch the transition from wood to point...The only thing I have that's above the transition line on the side profile is a sinew wrap which I try to flatten while its wet...

Pine pitch is natures hot melt and a great filler or shock absorber between the point and the wood...I try to blend the wood into the point with sand paper...
                                                                                                                                                                   Don

It made a great looking arrow but I can't use it for anything. I don't hunt so I've got this perfectly good arrow that I could be shooting if it had a field point on it. I guess some people have bigger problems though ;D
