I am just amazed that you have no set with that stave. You are the man.  The deflex idea is intriguing. I gotta try that on a 58” elm stave i have curing. How muck did you deflex?  With steam? Thx, Hoosier

  OH, my gosh!  You got 60 lbs out of that skinny little crooked sliver of ditch-bank wood?!?!   Amazing!  That's really good work.  I love elm, but you got a lot out of that stave.  Nice profile, great tiller.

So I got around to finishing it up.i l hope the guy I made it for likes it?I had planned on putting on overlays,so I filed in tillering nocks as usual.but after speaking with him I found he preferred self nocks.i regret not having diamond shaped but oh well.i however did reinenforce the tips with art sinew.i sanded off the poly and reapplied a grass and charcoal finished and wiped it down with mink oil.the handle is the exterior side of elm bark decorked and some wraps of jute.the feather is a great grey owl.just thought I would show a slightly different fit and finish using the jute. Lots of tool marks left as requested.i didn't try to copy any particular style just something that looked somewhat primitive!thxs bush!

Thxs!.on side note I slaughtered thick with mink oil(the shoe stuff) and let sit for a few days and it seemed to absorb most of it.i read recently that  a bow has to breath for longevity from a very respected bowyer!
