It’s purslane season!
« on: July 12, 2018, 03:27:05 pm »
This weed comes up everywhere on my property wherever I have bricks or stones.  It’s coming on strong right now here in VA.  Purslane is easy to prepare - just rinse it off and eat it!  It’s crunchy and tasty, kinda like a crunchy arugula with a hint of lemon.  Use it as is or add it to a salad.  It’s free, full of vitamins, and yummy.

Cukes from my garden and weeds from my garden (purslane) and a little Italian dressing...that was last night's dinner when I got home from work late.  Yum!

Later on I will be adding tomatoes to this salad, but for now they are green, hard, and a little too bitter.

It does. That's a nice note to add to a salad. Always taste a little first because it can vary quite a bit.

Around my house I use Round Up for a marinade on that stuff.

I'll have to give it a try. Lots of it around here. Like said hard to get rid of. You can pull it out but you can't leave it laying on the ground or it'll come right back.
