Tree ID help (similar to oceanspray)
« on: September 24, 2018, 02:52:29 pm »
I found this potential stave and am very curious as to what type of tree/plant it is. It shares many characteristics of oceanspray, but the leaves are a little different. It is an extremely hard wood and there are at least 4 excellent staves in the bunch. The final picture is oceanspray that is growing right next to it.

Serviceberry or Saskatoon(depending on where you live) I think. Makes a good bow :)

Serviceberry for sure. Ignore the twist and make a bow. It's good wood. Cheers- Brendan

I found it near an area of saltwater in WA. It's the first time I have really seen it
