Killed one with a Pearly bow
« on: November 12, 2018, 11:32:11 am »
I shot this deer yesterday evening.  The arrow showed signs that I hit it farther back than I wanted to.  I decided to wait until morning to look for it.  I saw it heading down a mowed trail along a field.  It was below freezing last night so I knew the meat would still be good.  I was worried about the coyotes finding it though.  I almost went to look for it at 11:00 pm last night but talked myself out of it.  This morning I waited until my Dad was done hunting before I headed out.  It took me about 5 minutes to find the deer.  It had only went 75 yards from where I shot it.  It stayed on our trail the entire time.  Waiting until morning was the right thing to do.

I was using a bamboo backed yew bow that Pearl Drums made.  I traded for it at the Marshall shoot last year.  The Cliff Zwickey broadhead got the job done on a less than perfect shot.

Thanks for the bow Pearly!  (SH)

Nice bow but I love the hat Clint. Just kidding. Nice use of a trade bow. I've been really seriously thinking of hunting with a couple of mine to. I think that's really cool and much better than just hanging them on the wall. I shoot mine from time to time and have let others to, but up until now I've always wanted to hunt with mine. Now I'm starting to rethink that. I'm sure Pearl is honored.

Thanks guys.  I was very happy to get one with an official Pear Drums bow.  Someone has to show him that his bows can kill  ;D

That hat looks better with a vintage Bear bow  ;)

Congrats, sir. You're havin' good time this year.
Equally, congrats to Chris on another "killer" bow.

I've been pulling the string back a little farther.  It couldn't have been to short of a draw.  It was a clean pass through and the arrow was stuck in the dirt.

Little sucker weaseled that bow from me! I wont even tell you what we traded. I figure its at least a $1500-1800 bow :)

Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.
