pinch draw arrows
« on: January 08, 2019, 10:01:57 am »
my grand son says he thinks drawing a pinch draw arrow  would be as easy as a regular fingers draw so I made up a couple to try from his 50# bow.im betting he don't get to 25#before he releases.

Nice set of nocks!  He might have a bit of a learning/conditioning curve to deal with!

In my younger days i could manage 45 #before loosing grip and i had really strong grip back then. i think your right hes in for a suprise.cant imagine riding at fullpace and shooting the weight the plains tribes did with a pinch grip.

Can pull about 45 pinch.  While you pinch the nock you can use fingers below the arrow to help pull (source: Seminole family)

was the pinch draw used for the full length (Mediterranean?) draw or for shorter arrows and drawlengths?

Pop's bow drew about 25" or so.  The one he kept put away for safe keeping, anyway.  He shot a compound normally, but had a sinew-backed cypress with a gut string that was passed down to him.  He drew short with it.  That's about all I know.  He let me try it once.  Must have been a 90 pound bow (just an estimate as I once shot at 85# and it was still harder than that.)  Pop was an amazing man.

Ah, concrete work. It's the sandpaper like skin that helps his grip ;D
