Still mine for right now
« on: January 10, 2019, 04:05:26 pm »
We have a member in here that turns a talented hand to making edged weapons and tools. I have the distinct honor of already owning one knife and one Tomahawk from him. A few short weeks ago, I asked him to make a specific style Bushcraft knife for me. It arrived today.

I am simply amazed. It is beautiful, rugged, and utilitarian, without being ugly. I am happy to say it is mine for the immediate brief future.

However, in a few short hours it will be given away as a Happy Birthmas-Merry Chrisday present.

The wood came from Tennessee Valley Muzzleloading. They charged me just $20 including shipping to send a huge chunk of incredibly figured maple. By some strange coincidence, I have a custom Green River Skinner blade that needs new scales. After that, I will only have enough wood for 20 or 30 pairs of tips overlays, a half-dozen more knife scale sets, and maybe a few other little odd bits.

Beautiful knife! I would have been tempted to put aquafortis on the handle though.

I'm jealous, but happy for the recipient.  :) I hope he or she had a Happy Birthmas-Merry Chrisday!

Yeah, my (not)cousin is pretty talented.  I am kinda bristling at myself for giving it away.  I might have to commission one of these for myself, too.

I have a neck knife with the same beautiful wood for the handle, I wear it and us it every day but Sunday. ;) I have a bunch of neck knives but it is my go to, a real working knife. That is a beautiful knife but the knives he makes aren't only beautiful they are very functional and tough and love to be used. :)

I am already kicking myself in the butt for giving this away.

I think I will have to beg, whine, and plead for one for myself!
