How do you train yourself to hold the bow/arrow at the 42.5-45° for flight shooting? Mark the horizon on your bow or shirt sleeve?

Put a small level with a 45 deg bubble on your bow and practice.

The practice part I got but because the bow is leaning back(the angle is toward me)I can't see the bubble on the level.

Try attaching a narrow board to a spotting scope mount set to 45 degrees for a reference. Since I have positional vertigo, it is just before I fall down!

The problem I'm having is that I'm shooting the bow. Therefore I'm standing behind it and the arrow, from my position, looks almost vertical. If I was an observer, standing off to the side, these are good ideas. But from the archers position it's really hard to tell. I just thought there would be a way for the archer to tell when he's got 45°. Do you all depend on a buddy? Look at this post https://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,65019.0.html
We both thought we were close to 45°. I'm at 35 and Sabb is at 40. When he's shooting the longbow he's even lower but he may have been shooting at the knight.

Having the reference "arrow" at 45 degrees and your draw height should allow you to use your peripheral vision to line up. A microphone stand may have better adjusting capabilities.. Practice also!

You need a construction of 3 wooden slats. 2 vertical and the third in 45 degrees in between (you can change the angle of the third slat, so you can go for the right angle between 40 and 45 degrees)

When shooting, place next to the construction and make sure that the arrow has the same directional position as the third slat.

If you have practiced enough, you wil not need the construction anymore.

Gotcha! Orienting the construction/apparatus with the arrow direction was what I was missing. Hasn't anyone tried putting a mark on the lower limb to line up with the horizon. I haven't had a chance to try that as it's been too cold.

I tried a few by making a line on the ground to shoot from where.... at my height and the usual hold on the bow, a friend holding a square with a level and a 45.. told me when I was at the right angle. of course it helped that I was shooting at (or alongside) the last leaf on a tree hanging in front of me.
