Concrete! Get off my lawn
« on: February 04, 2019, 08:11:54 am »
This concrete showed up right where I didn't want no concrete so I decided to try the solberger jig on it and it worked like a charm. The other side fluted better than it should have with a big low spot in the middle to so it was my lucky night with the solberger jig.

here's the other side.
Somehow the flute went under the low spot except for the small spot where it was just too thin to continue along one side.

I really like how that second flute scar is so smooth without ripples. I don't know what makes one smooth and one rippled, but I prefer smooth.
Here's the finished point and some detail pics of the tip.
This one the flutes weren't centered well, but when the flutes reach the tip like this it makes an incredibly efficient looking tip

yeah bjrogg, there's some confusion programmed into the software that blocked that pic.

Thanks for the compliments.

Gliss the credit goes to Solbereger for designing a jig that delivers the pressure to remove those flutes on each side and take off all the concrete and sloppy knapping with them.
There really was no special skill required to do what I did. It just happened to work out pretty good this time in the jig.
